Film Office

Introduction

In order to meet the growing demand for guidance for film and television productions, the City of Antwerp initiated a municipal film office. On December 5 2001 the city council approved the establishment of the Antwerp City Film Office. The ACFO is part of the Marketing and Communication unit.

The ACFO handles approximately 100 applications every year.

A brief summary:

For 2008, this amounted to 11 feature films (182 shooting days), 34 television productions (551 days), 10 commercials (14 days), 8 films made by students (35 days), 13 shorts (47 days), 9 documentaries (16 days), 8 music videos, 15 photo shoots and 46 various small productions.

The main task of the ACFO is ensuring the coordination between various services and agencies. The ACFO is the sole office for film and TV producers in Antwerp, providing guidance as well as applying for the necessary permits. Arrangements with local police and the Public Events Department are essential to ensure that film shoots on public roads run smoothly.

The ACFO will also help you in searching any specific location that you may require and will serve as an intermediary with third parties (e.g. owners of a private building), assisting you in obtaining a permit.
