The seagoing vessels have disappeared and the typical port activities now take place further north in Europe's second largest seaport. This historic port has evolved into an up-to-date facility that is popular amongst passenger ships and offers berths for houseboats and pleasure craft in the centre of Antwerp.
There are 2 marinas: one in the Willemdok and one in the Kempisch dok, and berths for houseboats are provided in the Houtdok. The City Port is also home to several tour boats.
There are several ways to reach Antwerp City Port by boat. Pleasure craft must proceed along the Scheldt via the Kattendijk lock. Other vessels arrive via the seaport of Antwerp, coming from the Scheldt-Rhine Canal (Volkerak) to the Straatsburgdok and through the bridges Mexicobrug and Londenbrug
Team of Antwerp City Port is responsible for the entire operation, the maintenance of public order and for the safety and tranquillity of the areas of water in the City Port area. The team also offers services to all users of this port area.
