Berths for commercial and military vessels

How to request a berth for commercial vessels, naval vessels and tall ships.

Commercial vessels

Commercial vessels (inland navigation barges, tugs, pushers, etc.) can be given berths in the City Port and at the Scheldt Quays City zone as a temporary waiting place. This is not possible for motor tankers.

Depending on the parameters of the vessel, commercial shipping can dock in the Asiadok at the East and West Quays, in the Houtdok on the North Quay and in the Kempisch dok on the East Quay (max. 60 metres). Due to work on the Canal Tunnels and the narrowed waterway along the construction site zone,

the accessibility of the Antwerp City Port is limited. Ships up to 90 metres in length can reach the berths in the City Port without any problems. Right now, tests are being made to assess accessibility for ships up to 110 metres long.

On the Scheldt Quays, commercial vessels can moor at Quay S14 (Sint-Andries). Commercial vessels request a berth at the Scheldt Quays via VHF channel 60.

Naval vessels and Tall Ships

For military ships and tall ships, you can request a berth. That berth can be either in the City Port or at the Scheldt Quays City zone. The location will depend on the parameters of the vessel.

Requesting a berth

How long will it take to process your application?

During the working week, the City Port will process your request for a berth within +/- 48 hours. After that, you will be able to receive a permit to enter the berth.

How much will your stay cost?

The price depends on factors such as the type of ship, the number of mooring days and the purpose of your stay. View the mooring fee regulations.
