Every year, the city of Antwerp welcomes a number of seagoing cruise ships. It is able to do this at the centrally located Cruise Terminal. Passengers have immediate access to the historic city centre via the 800-year-old fortress, Het Steen.
The Cruise Terminal is the ideal base from which to explore Antwerp. Located in the heart of the city, the terminal is part of the tourist reception centre in Het Steen.
Every year, the city of Antwerp receives about 30 seagoing cruise ships. That accounts for a total of about 20,000 passengers. Seagoing cruise ships dock at the Cruise pontoon, a special floating pontoon with a direct connection to the terminal building. The ships and passengers therefore receive the best possible reception.
Seagoing cruise ships seeking to use Antwerp as their destination should take into account the following nautical parameters:
Vessels with a length overall that is greater than 170 metres, must submit a ship file to the to the GNA (Joint Nautical Authority).
Only after an evaluation by the GNA can you be granted permission to embark and disembark from the seagoing cruise ship in question.
