Shore power makes it possible to an integrated approach to air pollution on a local scale. That is why the City of Antwerp attaches great importance to the development of shore power infrastructure. That infrastructure not only reduces noise for local residents, but it also reduces pollutant emissions, such as CO2 and particulate matter.
The City of Antwerp has entered into a concession agreement with Equans to offer shore power to users of the City Port at as many locations as possible, for both passenger and commercial vessels.
Currently, there are only shore power cabinets along the Kattendijkdok-Westkaai. River cruise ships that dock here can use this infrastructure. This means they do not have to use their generator in order to have the necessary power on board. More importantly, purchasing shore power at this quay is mandatory.
There are 4 shore power cabinets at quays 15A-15B and 16A-16B.
Each shore power cabinet is equipped with 2 connection points:
The connection points can be used simultaneously at any time.
Vessels requiring 800A must specifically state this on their request for a berth!
The location and commissioning of new shore power cabinets will be communicated in detail soon.
In the attached document, you will find all the information about connecting to the cabinets via the Techmetrys user platform.
