Applying for a fishing licence

To fish in the port area, you will need a Flemish fishing licence. It can be purchased at any post office or by visiting visverlof.be.

The fishing licence is valid for 1 calendar year. In the port area, Flemish regulations governing river fishing apply: see natuurenbos.be.

In the Antwerp City Port

At the following locations in the City Port, you may fish if you carry a fishing licence with you: 

• Bonapartedok (noordkaai) kaai 2A, kaai 2B, kaai 2C en kaai 2D (oostkaai) kaai 9 en kaai 10 (zuidkaai), kaai 11A, kaai 11B, kaai 11C en kaai 11D
• Willemdok (noordkaai) kaai 3, kaai 4A en kaai 4B
• Kattendijkdok (westkaai) kaai 15A, kaai 15B, kaai 16A en kaai 16B (oostkaai) kaai 20A, kaai 20B, kaai 21A, kaai 21B, kaai 22A en kaai 22B
• Houtdok (noordkaai), kaai 25B, kaai 26A, kaai 26B, kaai 27A en kaai 27B, (zuidkaai) kaai 32
• Asiadok (zuidkaai) kaai 29 E, (westkaai) kaai 30A, kaai 30B, kaai 30C, kaai 31A, kaai 31B en kaai 31C
• Kempisch dok (Oostkaai) kaai 33B, kaai 33C en kaai 34 (noordkaai), kaai 37B en kaai 37C

Please note: Fishing from a boat is not allowed anywhere in the port.

During vessel manoeuvres at the permitted fishing locations, it is mandatory to bring in the fishing gear to prevent propeller and rudder damage and damage to one's own equipment.

In the Commercial Port Area

For fishing in the Commercial Port area, you can find information at portofantwerp. 

Please note: Fishing from a boat is not allowed anywhere in the port.

• do not need a fishing licence if accompanied by a parent or guardian in possession of a fishing licence.
• must apply for a young person's fishing licence if they wish to fish unaccompanied.
• may only fish with 1 rod and must immediately and carefully return the fish caught.

You may fish at the following locations:

• Mastvest or Kielvest
• Pond on the Brilschans
• Outer wall of the Fort of Merksem
• Fish pond in the Bouckenborgh estate 

Fishing in these waters is regulated by the provisions of the Police Code. No fishing licence is required for these waters.

• Pond at Fort VII in Wilrijk
• Pond at Fort VIII in Hoboken

To fish these waters, you must be a member of one of the fishing associations that operate there. For these waters, no fishing licence is required.

• Only with a rod.
• A maximum of 2 fishing rods applies.
• Immediately and carefully release any fish you catch back into the water where they came from.
• The use of a life net and of live or dead baitfish is prohibited.
• The use of lures is allowed, however.
• Fishing sites may not be reserved.
• Always tidy up the fishing site completely.
